Beautiful Day for a Work Day
I was going to write something about our work day yesterday, but I believe Charlie, our fearless leader, said it all. This is his email to us.
So much work done and I apologize for not having pictures from the woods and Goose Falls crews. I understand it takes awhile to get us going, and I talk too much but the work that was done would have taken a week or more alone.
We now have an employee picnic table that doesn’t weigh like a sack of bricks (As I joked to Ron, the picnic table would have turned out avant-garde with my carpentry work).
Liz H. found a corner of the shop I have never dug into in ten years here, and we won’t discuss what she found .
Sue can count to 14 now, those early childhood years are returning, as well as her new stylish metallic finger coating.
Julie is ready to become a first-class lumber grader (I learned from a man who called himself “Doyle The Great” and passing those skills to her).
We all know Ned works harder than the crew who puts in 40 hours a week, enough said.
And Amanda took her “swamper” skills to join a real North Woods gal out clearing the Ski Loop.
A big thank you to all in attendance:
Charlie Cannon
Julie Cleveland
Ron Corl
Sue Corl
Amanda Harmon
Ned Hildreth
Liz Hotchkiss
Kevin Miller (ranger from Fort Knox Maine)
Alissa Lutz (ranger from Lamoine)
The kids will have some more birdhouses to create and the skiers and hikers will have clean winter trails to explore the sanctuary.
See you at the next work day—December 11 from 11-4.
