First Day Hike
The New Year has begun with a great hiking once again!
The weather could not deter this hardy crowd.
They brought hot and cold drinks, chili, and cookies! Even though the winds kept blowing and the rain pouring, they sheltered under the tent and did their best to keep warm.
Charlie Cannon, the Holbrook Island Sanctuary Manager, and Alissa Lutz, Lamoine Park Ranger, led groups of hikers down easy trails toward Goose Falls village and the shoreline trail that provides wonderful views of Islesboro and beyond. They continued to Goose Falls Bridge and passed Harborside’s oldest cemetery before returning via Back Road to the trailhead.
Although the weather was not the best, there was still opportunity to snap some beautiful pictures along the way.
